At Aldenham Country Park we strive to offer a truly enriching outdoor learning experience. From our working farm to the magical 100 Aker Wood, the park provides countless opportunities for children to discover more about animals, wildlife and the natural environment, all while enjoying fresh air and adventure.
Our aim is to make learning memorable, engaging and hands-on. Through exploring the park, children can develop a deeper understanding of farm animals, their behaviours and the important role farms play in our lives. Learning where food comes from is an essential part of this experience, helping children connect the journey from field to fork and encouraging a greater appreciation for the food we eat.
With over 100 acres to explore, Aldenham Country Park offers a wide variety of landscapes and habitats to discover. Classes can visit the reservoir, home to a diverse range of wild birds, wander along nature trails through the parkland, and step into the enchanting 100 Aker Wood to find the homes of Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Christopher Robin and their friends. Our real working farm also provides the perfect introduction to farm animals, giving children the chance to see them up close and learn more about how a farm operates.
Flexible Visit Options for Every Class
We understand that every school visit is different, which is why we offer a range of options to suit different class sizes, learning goals and teaching styles.
Farm & Park Explorers visits allow schools to explore the park, woodland and farm at their own pace in a self-led experience, giving teachers the flexibility to guide their class through the park’s many areas.
For a more structured experience, our Guided Farm Tours introduce children to life on a working farm, where they can learn about the animals and how they are cared for.
During the spring season, schools can also enjoy our Lambing Talk & Demonstration, offering a fascinating insight into lambing and the early life of newborn lambs.
These options allow you to choose the experience that best suits your class, creating a memorable and engaging day of learning outside the classroom.
